OMRON CONNECT APP AND PATIENTS KNOW BEST TO INTEGRATE PERSONAL HEALTH RECORDS
Milton Keynes, UK. 24th February 2022 – OMRON Healthcare Europe B.V., parent company of OMRON Healthcare UK Limited, has today launched its integration with Patients Know Best (PKB), part of the latest update of the OMRON connect App. This development means that patients will be able to share their health data with their clinician or clinical team through a secure personal health record. Sharing this data allows for more informed self-management; and is crucial for patients who want to have more input into their treatment plan.
The OMRON connect App allows users to share key metrics such as blood pressure, weight and step count, which can now be integrated into their PKB account. Users of the OMRON connect App will now be able to share a range of data from connected OMRON devices and from other apps developed by third parties. Furthermore, for the first time, health data contained in users’ smartphones and smart watches can be integrated to their PKB account if the devices are connected to the OMRON connect App.
The OMRON connect App is able to work with a range of devices, including OMRON Blood Pressure monitors; OMRON Complete (Blood Pressure monitor and ECG); OMRON Weight Scale; OMRON Eco Temp Intelli IT (smart digital thermometer); and OMRON P300 Intelli IT (Pulse Oximeter for Blood Oxygen Saturation SpO2).
Sharing data with a clinician or clinical team is especially valuable when viewed alongside an individual’s wider medical information, including their symptom tracking, potential care plans and test results (when made available by their healthcare organisations). PKB also supports users in sharing their personal health record with medical professionals and caregivers who may not already have access to this information. Ultimately, this enables more informed clinical decision-making based on patient-generated data.
A step-by-step guide on how to get the OMRON connect App and connect it to PKB can be found via our manual here. The OMRON connect App is available to download via the Apple and Google app stores.
Charlie Fox, General Manager of OMRON Healthcare UK Limited, stated “We are really excited to announce this new launch. PKB are at the forefront of giving patients control over treatment plans and making healthcare easier to navigate. With the OMRON connect App we can help patients manage their conditions and improve lives”
Dr Mohammad Al-Ubaydi, CEO of PKB, stated “In 1973, OMRON was the first to test patients measuring blood pressure at home to prevent stokes. In 2008, PKB was the first to test patients monitoring all their medical records. The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of both approaches, so it’s a pleasure to combine our efforts for patients.”
